BIO-SIL IGA/10 is a 10% emulsion of Polydimethylsiloxane specifically formulated for the antifoaming and de-foaming of most water-based adhesive systems. BIO-SIL IGA/10 performs rapid, initial knock down and persistent hold down of foam generated by the addition of water, surfactant and agitation. This emulsion readily disperses into water-based systems with no effect to adhesion performance. BIO-SIL IGA/10 contains a built in pH buffer to be stable over a wide pH range.
Common Areas of Use.
Water Based Adhesive Systems
As a processing aid: For maximum de-foaming efficiency, pre-dilute BIO-SIL IGA/10 with 0.1 to 0.5 parts by weight of the total amount of water before adding to the foaming system. Do not add the BIO-SIL IGA/10 to the water but rather vice versa. In processing applications as an additive, BIO-SIL IGA/10 in concentrations of 10 to 500 ppm can be added.
For end use: BIO-SIL IGA/10 emulsion can be added directly from the original shipped container into the foaming system. A concentration in the range of 0.1 to 0.5% has been determined as a good starting amount for water-based adhesives.
- Testing before formulating should still be carried out as systems vary.
Material Safety Data Sheets are available upon request.
The shelf life period without testing is 12 months from date of manufacture, if stored in the original unopened container at 4°C to 27°C.
Mild agitation should be carried out if stored as the nature of any emulsion is to separate without agitation over extended periods of storage.
